Hairspray is the story of a bubbly kid named Tracy Turnblad, an aspiring performer who hopes to earn a place on a neighbouring telly series called the Corny Collins Show. The programme is essentially based on a Baltimore-based telly series called the Buddy Dean Show in Baltimore, Maryland.Tracy is unfamiliar in the performing arts arena when she tries out, but she is chosen for one of the dancing parts & with very long odds turns out to be a dancing superstar nearly overnight. Tracy is cheerful by this new reputation, & she comes to the decision to make use of her new fame to bring about positive developments to the TV show. The essential motivation for these positive developments is related to race. The musical production has featured some popular named actors — Michael Ball plays one of the lead roles as Edna Turnblad, Tracy’s very own mother, delivering a very credible interpretation in this testing female position, whilst Mel Smith played joke shop property-owner Wilbur Turnblad, Tracy’s father. The original cast in the West End also features newcomer to the theatre arena, Leanne Jones, in the leading role of Tracy.Hairspray the musical has got various upbeat reviews from critics & musical theatre enthusiasts alike. Jacqueline stated: “I have been to see the play four times so far and I will unquestionably be going back yet again sometime next week & a few more times also. I love the moment & wish they could stay on much longer. Ben Ellis is outstanding as link and Leanne Jones as Tracey and Michael Ball, well they are all simply fabulous. The theatre play hairspray is easily my favourite, it is optimistic & if you’re feeling a tad bit miserable then it is guaranteed to make you feel a great deal better. The reality is that the world economy has been suffering lately. This is true for almost every industry. One of the industries that is screaming the loudest is the music industry. Despite what critics say, users claim P2P downloads not responsible for music industry woes. People have been able to share music through CD burning and other means for decades.
