All of the people who work for my company are feeling that their jobs are quite secure now. In this uncertain time of our nation’s economy, it is a great feeling to know that the place you work is not only doing well, but in need of some expansion to accommodate all of the new clients we are picking up. It’s amazing how quickly technology advancements can change the business world. Old products and services that were once the top sellers, get ushered out the door while their replacements take on the new top seat. That is what appears to be happening in the music business as it pertains to CD’s and the advent of free music downloads in the mp3 format.
Since the mid 2000’s, year after year, physical CD sales have been on a serious decline as the popularity of free music downloads continues to soar higher. Will this be the end of CD sales as we know it? Most likely yes, but the total extinction of physical CD’s will most likely stay around for quite some time. Even though mp3 downloads are fast, easy, and cheap, they are still no substitution for the full spectrum of listening frequencies afforded by a physical CD.
