Boardwalk Empire’s Influence

Boardwalk Empire has placed itself as one of the best shows to come out of HBO since the Sopranos. However some do not like its prohibition era storyline, and the presence of excessive alcohol and tobacco. People like associate professor Scott Huettel say it could have a negative influence upon society.
The logic which is presented is people who see actors smoke or drink on TV will feel influenced to do the same. Now of course there are no facts to support this claim, and even if there were humans are completely coherent of what we put in our bodies. You can’t blame a show for habits we all take part in consensually. The claims are really outrageous and will not bring down a show of this magnitude.
