While learning about How to buy stock , the first thing to note is, that since stocks need to be bought and sold via a stock exchange, that means an individual investor needs to work through either a brokerage service or stock broker in order to make transactions. You can find both brokerage services and brokers through your local bank and other financial institution connections as well as online today. Stock trading occurs on both private and public stock exchanges. Some of the major public exchanges i.e. places where you can buy and sell right along with the general public are the NASDAQ (National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotation System) and the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
