For example, an e-commerce site that has hundreds or even thousands of different products to track — prices, sizes, amount of items in stock, etc. — will certainly need to use a database. This presents many challenges and potential problems for a web hosting company — and some smaller web hosting services may not have any experience in dealing with them. In particular, they may not know how to make sure that your database files are backed up. If you will be maintaining an online database, make sure your web hosting service knows how to handle them, and ask them what their backup schedule is — if you don’t get a response, or they don’t seem to understand what you are asking, then you need to find another hosting service.
