Lanzarote is a great place for touring. With really good highways on offer, like the LZ1, LZ2 and the LZ3, it is not only possible but remarkably easy to navigate the best spots on the island. The lively capital of Lanzarote, (as well as main port and airport) Arrecife, has plenty to offer the visitor and is perfectly situated for travelling. Thanks to the island’s good accessibility, driving your rental car in Lanzarote from one visitors’ attraction to another is easy. While Arrecife is on the east of the island, the hot spots (Famara mountains) located in the north and (the tiny ‘off the beaten track’villages of El Golfo and volcanic amphitheatre) in the west, are easily reached. There is so much more to explore on the island that you would miss aboard one of the daily excursions following strict schedules. There is in excess of two hundred kilometres of coast to explore, as well all that lies inland.

If you are thinking SixFlags Vacation this summer, consider renting. In my experience, there is item that really runs up the old vacation bill, and that is gas for the van. This year, the cost would be even greater with gas prices where they are. We decided to see how much we could save by doing a little advanced planning and research.
First of all, we looked at the price of renting a fuel efficient car to take on the trip. We figure we can save money by renting a fuel efficient car and leave the mini van at home. We searched fuel efficient models and then rental companies to find just what we were looking for. Then we got out our auto club membership card and used it to get a reduced rate on the rental. Yes, it’s a lot less room but we can pack lighter and the kids will just have to be OK with sitting that close to each other!

Since schools do so much to help our children grow safely into mature, intelligent young adults, it is always nice to take the opportunity to show our appreciation towards the teachers and faculty members of local schools. This can mean anything from buying school bus driver gifts to sending a thank you card to teachers and administrators. Really, the key is to show these hard working men and women that you appreciate what they do for your children and the community, and it is not the cost or monetary value of the sentiment that is not important.
