Chaga and HIV/AIDS: The Chaga mushroom lives and grows in the trunk of the white birch trees. About 35% of the trunk is composed of betulin. Betulin, and its derivative betulinic acid has gatroprotective, hepatoprotective, anti-tumor and anti-viral properties. Together with the other substances of Chaga, it is being tested for their effectiveness in treating HIV and RSV (respiratory syncvtial virus). So far, the tests have showed positive results. It showed the ability of to control this medical condition by inhibiting the growth of the HIV cells. There are also other nutrients, phytochemicals, flavinoids and phenols contained in this mushroom that can strengthen the immune system of HIV/AIDS patients.
