Does Anyone Else Get Panic Attacks While Driving?
January 17th, 2008
I get panic attacks while driving to customer sites for business, almost always in the mornings when I need to be in a certain place by a certain time. I never get them when I am on the return journey home, when time is not a major concern. I used to think it was a fear of the unknown situation at a customer site, but as I still have them to this day, even though I know who I am meeting with, what terrain I will be driving through and how long it will take - I am at a loss. Overcoming my panic attacks while driving has now become an unhealthy obsession, because I know the night before that I will have one, and feel powerless to prevent it. The only thing that remotely eases my anxiety is making a phone call to colleagues or listening to a relaxing CD whilst I am on the road.
