What are some of the medications for bipolar disorder?

I think my fiance suffers from bipolar disorder. He does not show any of the signs or symptoms of the disease, but I think he may be using medications to control the disorder. I was at his house, and I cut my finger on a paring knife while I was preparing dinner for him. I went into the bathroom and opened up the medicine cabinet to get a bandage for my finger. There were prescription bottles with his name on them. What are some of the medications for bipolar disorder? I looked up the medications that had been prescribed for him. They were anti-seizure medications. As far as I know, he does not have a disorder that causes seizures. I have heard that those types of medications are used to treat bipolar disorder, so I think that may be the reason why he takes them. He has never mentioned it to me though, and I do not know how to approach the subject with him. I think it is something I deserve to know about the man I plan to marry.
