Cat swat

I need some cat training advice.  You see, me and my wife are the type of people that like to have our friends and family over for dinner and just to hang out. Our cat Dumplin was a very friendly cat ever since we got him and we have had him for six years. We moved to a bigger house in a nicer neighborhood and once we got settled in we invited our friends and family over for a nice little summer bar b-q. When everyone came over Dumplin was acting mean to everyone. He would hiss and swat at them he even jumped up at my friend Tink. Dumplin and Tink always get along really well that’s why it was so surprising. After a few incidents of Dumplin doing this we decided to take him to the vet to see if maybe he was sick and the vet the mean attitude he has now is from old age and we should train him to not do things like that. My wife and I never had to train him so we don’t know how we are going to do this.
