Approach from the Left; Approach from the Right

Each Investor has his own individual approach to the market. Some like to trade on breakouts; some like to trade trends; some like to catch reversals. In the same way, every publication has its own point of view, and much of the time it is based on solid experience over a number of years. I have found that the best investment newsletter of all is one which is considered to be the granddaddy ofd them all, because it has been published for a very long time and enjoys great respect from its peers. Much of that respect is due to the fact that the author has been right more often than he has been wrong; and his recommendations generally develop into long-term advances which put money in the pockets of his subscribers. Nevertheless, I also enjoy publications which take a contrarian view, because time has shown that the majority is often wrong. That is especially the case when the majority is so very heavily tilted in one direction that very few buyers or sellers remain on the opposite side of the fence. Besides, apart from the investment possibilities, it can be fun to be contrary, especially you are proven to be right and the majority was wrong.
