For a long time the British Monarchy has played an important and crucial role for the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. Buckingham Place has been the official London residence of Britain’s monarchy since Queen Victoria in 1837.
Today Buckingham Palace is home to not only Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, but also Prince Andrew, the Duke of York and also Prince Edward and his wife (Earl and Countess of Wessex).
Buckingham Palace is also used by 400 people daily as an office and as an entertainment venue for the 50,000 guests invited to the Palace each year. There are over 600 rooms, including 19 State rooms, 52 royal and guest bedrooms, 78 bathrooms, 92 offices, a in-house cinema and swimming pool.
