Helium welding
October 5th, 2009
Welding is a process that involves the fusion of two materials using extreme pressure or heat. Every industrial company today is using welding to meet their manufacturing needs. Helium is the 2nd lightest element it has a gaseous gravity of 0.138. This inert gas is odorless, tasteless and colorless. The resulting compounds of reactions of other elements and helium are quite unstable because it is chemically inert. In the arc welding processes helium is used for its ease of detect ability and permeation rate. These qualities make it the ideal option for leak detection. Its low gravity content is an advantage in helium welding.
