Kailua Kona Hawaii Hotels in Kona Hawaii
December 20th, 2007
Maybe you’re headed to watch Hawaii’s Ironman Triathlon or partake in the Hawaiian International Billfish Tournament. Or more likely than not, you’re just a tourist who wants to stay on Big Island Hawaii, the largest Hawaiian Island, and you found that there was no better place to stay than the tourist center of the west side of Big Island Hawaii, Kona Hawaii.
Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, sometimes just referred to as "Kona" to avoid confusion with a Kailua on the island of Oahu, was once the capital of Hawaii, long before it was a state. King Kamehameha I ruled the first unified Kingdom of Hawaii from Kailua-Kona in the late 18th and early 19th centuries.
Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, then, is a place of beauty for the tourist interested in history, in adventure, and in great restaurants and shopping centers. The question is not if you’re going to stay in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, but where you’re going to stay!
