Illinois tourism driving the value of the dollar

March 8th, 2008

The thing about Illinois tourism is that it brings so much money into the state, but does that actually help out the economy of the nation as a whole. Most of the tourism dollar spent in the state actually comes from other states not from other countries, so there is no net gain in wealth when viewed from a national perspective. Of course Illinois would like to have all the money from the other parts of the nation but maybe they should focus their tourism industry on tourists from overseas and Canada. That way there would be an increase in the value of the dollar.
