Rent to Save on SixFlags Vacation

If you are thinking SixFlags Vacation this summer, consider renting. In my experience, there is item that really runs up the old vacation bill, and that is gas for the van. This year, the cost would be even greater with gas prices where they are. We decided to see how much we could save by doing a little advanced planning and research.
First of all, we looked at the price of renting a fuel efficient car to take on the trip. We figure we can save money by renting a fuel efficient car and leave the mini van at home. We searched fuel efficient models and then rental companies to find just what we were looking for. Then we got out our auto club membership card and used it to get a reduced rate on the rental. Yes, it’s a lot less room but we can pack lighter and the kids will just have to be OK with sitting that close to each other!
