Ride a bicycle

When you have been in Amsterdam for awhile you will discover that your bicycle is your new best friend. The people who laid out the transportation plan for the city must have had bicycles in mind because they produced one of the most bicycle friendly cities in the world. In the city center, which contains most of the Amsterdam hotels, driving is discouraged, parking fees are dear, and many of the streets are closed to automotive traffic. Whether you buy or rent a bicycle be sure to have a lock. Of the approximately one million bicycles in Amsterdam, ten percent are reported stolen each year.
