Roman Gardens and Galleries
August 7th, 2008
Venturing to Italy and stopping and staying in hotels in Rome, do not overlook the lovely villas, gardens and art galleries along your quest for the city’s great architecture of ages past. See Roman sculpture at the Villa Albani. At the Villa Borghese is both a landscape garden and the Borghese Gallery. Though the most famous statue of the Roman goddess, Venus, is the Venus de Milo in Paris, which is actually the Greek Aphrodite of Milos, the Borghese Gallery is home to the genuinely Italian Venus Victrix. In Rome’s present custom of hosting both the classic and the contemporary, there is also a National Gallery of Modern Art there.
