The Smithsonian National Zoological Park in Washington, DC is a fun, friendly place you will delight in visiting. There are so many wonderful animals to meet at this enormous zoo. Plan to spend an entire day to see all of the great exhibits. If you find animals of Africa intriguing, you will appreciate the large number of creatures on exhibit at African-themed exhibits. You can see African lions at the Great Cats exhibit, a Nile Hippopotamus at the Elephant House, and Gorillas at their own Great Ape House. Zebras, meerkats, gazelles and lemurs are some of the other African mammals you’ll see at the Zoo. You can also see and learn about many creatures that live in Ocean habitats around the world on your visit to the National Zoo. Playful sea lion pups star in daily demonstrations here, and you can see many ocean dwelling invertebrates at the Invertebrate House. Whatever type of animals or habitats you’re interested in, you’re likely to find them at the National Zoo. Discovering new animals you’ve never seen before is also part of the fun on a trip to the National Zoo.
